Oregon Pinot Gris

The Joel Gott 2011 Pinot Gris has aromas of white peach, orange blossom and kaffir lime. Crisp acidity on the front of the palate leads to a vibrant, refreshing mouthfeel rounded out by minerality.
With one of the latest harvests in Oregon’s history, the 2011 Pinot Gris fruit had an extraordinary amount of hang time. The extra time on the vines in cool weather means that the flavors developed fully without losing any acidity. Fruit was sourced from vineyards in Oregon—three in Willamette Valley and one in Southern Oregon—where we feel Pinot Gris grows best. These vineyards produced less than three tons per acre which means that there were fewer clusters on each vine, and each cluster had a greater intensity of flavor. During fermentation, three different strains of yeast were used for added complexity, and the wine was kept in stainless steel throughout fermentation and aging to preserve natural flavors and acidity.
