Alisa grew up knowing that agriculture would be a part of her studies and her career. Surrounded by cherry and pistachio orchards in the Sacramento River Delta, she raised livestock for the county fair. It was no surprise that after high school, she went to the University of California at Davis to study Agriculture and Business.
A summer spent interning at Korbel in Sonoma County between her sophomore and junior years though, altered Alisa’s course. Enjoying the combination of science, art and agriculture, she returned to school and changed her major to Viticulture and Enology. The next summer Alisa interned at Schramsberg in Napa Valley, and after graduation found a position working harvest at Joseph Phelps Vineyards. It was at Phelps that Alisa met winemaker Sarah Gott, who became Alisa’s mentor.
In 2003, Sarah brought her on board as the assistant winemaker at Joel Gott Wines. In 2007, Alisa was promoted to winemaker at Joel Gott Wines where she oversees grower relationships, blending, and the production of various varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Grenache.
