2012 Pinot Gris
The 2012 Pinot Gris has floral aromatics of jasmine and honeysuckle that lead to aromas of white peach, nectarine and Meyer lemon. The wine fills the palate with soft, refreshing acidity followed by tropical and citrus flavors, leading to a lingering finish.
In the Willamette Valley, 2012 was characterized by warm sunny weather followed by cooler, rainy weather allowing for the development of flavors and full maturity of the fruit. Temperature fluctuations earlier on during bloom were cause for low crop yields, which produced fruit with concentrated flavors. After harvest, the juice experiences a very slow, cool fermentation to preserve the fruit characteristics and is arrested with a small amount of residual sugar to balance out the high acidity naturally found in the fruit.
