2012 Washington Riesling
The 2012 Joel Gott Riesling has aromas of key lime, stone fruit, honey and jasmine. The wine is round on the palate with mouthwatering acidity and a lingering minerality on the finish.
We continue to choose Washington for Riesling because of its ideal climate. Large diurnal swings are cause for a long hang time, giving the flavors time to mature, preventing sugar levels from getting too high, and helping to retain natural acidity in the fruit. The Columbia Valley’s typical cool mornings, warm afternoons, and cool evenings are ideal conditions for intense aroma and flavor development in the fruit.
After harvest, the fruit is fermented in stainless steel and the fermentation is arrested, leaving a delicate element of sweetness. Finding this perfect balance of acidity and sugar showcases the minerality and complexity of the wine, as does aging in stainless steel.
