WHAT:
The 2009 Sauvignon Blanc bursts with tropical notes of mango, lemon, lime, citrus, lychee, pineapple, and guava. The wine has good minerality and balanced acidity and ends with a long finish.
WHERE:
The base of this blend comes from the oceanic influenced northern Monterey appellation. The moderate day and night temperatures are perfect for a slow ripening process allowing the fruit to hang until October, quite late in the harvest season for Sauvignon Blanc. This late and slow ripening process allows more complex flavors to develop. The clone in the vineyard is the Sauvignon Musque clone of Sauvignon Blanc, which gives richer tropical and floral aromas than the typical clone 1. The fruit from Monterey combined with the citrus characteristics from Lake County, the richness from Lodi, and the minerality from Russian River make for a rich and balanced blend bursting with a bouquet of aromatics and depth on the palate.
WHY:
Aging this well-balanced Sauvignon Blanc in stainless steel preserves the intense fruit aromas and flavors without the cloaking presence of malolactic fermentation. The screw cap enclosure and the UV safe green glass package ensure that our wine maintains freshness throughout its life. Put simply, this is one of our favorite wines to drink regardless of season or spread; it is bright and crisp year round.
