WHAT:
The 2005 vintage of our Joel Gott Dillian Ranch
Zinfandel marks the tenth year that we ve been
making this wine. It remains one of the most elegant,
balanced Zinfandels that we ve tasted.
WHERE:
All fruit comes from Amador County. Mineral-rich
red soils and a relatively longer growing season
make this wine unique in its depth and give the wine
a natural balance of acidity, tannin and flavor con-
centration. The climate and soils of Amador com-
bined with old-head-trained vines produce a Zinfan-
del with aromas of black cherry, plum, blackberry
and pepper spice complimented by sweet tannins,
elegant minerality and flavors of ripe fruit, mocha,
vanilla and spice.
WHY:
In 1996 Joel drove up to the foothills of Amador
County to visit family friend and veteran vintner
Tom Dillian. He came back to Napa Valley with our
inaugural harvest. Ten years later we are still
producing Dillian Ranch and other small produc-
tion wines in order to continue to educate our-
selves on various varietals, styles and techniques,
and to better acquaint ourselves with unique fruit
sources.
