GOTT Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Tasting Notes

The GOTT 13 Napa Valley Cabernet has aromas of dark cherries, plum and mocha with hints of anise and vanilla. The wine opens with dark, concentrated fruit flavors followed by soft, velvety tannins on the mid-palate, which are balanced by an elegant structure and a long finish.

Fruit for the 2013 GOTT Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from the Napa and Knights Valley appellations. Small clusters of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from vineyards planted atop rocky soil on hillsides in the southern part of Napa make up the larger part of this blend, giving the wine its depth and intensity. Malbec from Knights Valley provides power and structure along with good acidity, helping to balance out the intensity of the fruit from southern Napa. The 2013 growing season produced an exceptional vintage thanks to near perfect weather throughout. Normal rainfall occurred in the winter followed by moderate temperatures during the spring and summer, allowing fruit to reach optimal ripeness with great color, tannins and structure.

Individual vineyard blocks were picked as they ripened, giving all the fruit a chance to fully mature. The wine was aged in 82% New French oak and 18% 1-year-old French oak for just over 21 months.
