Joel Gott Palisades CA Red Wine
Tasting Notes
The Joel Gott 2018 Palisades Artist Series red wine has aromas of cherry pie and roasted coffee with notes of vanilla and spice. On the palate, bright cherry flavors lead to smooth tannins and subtle acidity on the mid-palate with notes of spice on the long, delicate finish.

Vineyard Notes
To make a well-balanced red wine, we blended Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot from five different appellations in California. Fruit from Napa Valley lends complexity while Mendocino fruit gives the wine its color and rich, ripe fruit flavors. Lake County adds structured tannins and minerality while smaller, more concentrated fruit clusters from Monterey offers fruit-forward notes. Vineyards in Santa Barbara experience cool, foggy mornings and warmer afternoons, bringing out well-developed fruit flavors and balanced acidity in the grapes.
Harvest Notes
Across California in 2018, the growing season was long and even, with moderate winter rains resulting in later than usual bud break. Warm spring temperatures followed by a midsummer heat wave and cooler temperatures in the fall, caused us to pick our fruit a little later than in previous years. These conditions allowed fruit to ripen evenly at a steady pace, making for a well-balanced wine
Winemaking Notes
After fermentation, the wine was aged in 1-year-old American oak and 2-year-old French oak to complement the flavors and tannins of the wine and soften the mid-palate.
